Jean Pierre Gendron, 49, of Cherryville, N.C., was charged with unarmed robbery and disorderly conduct in connection with the robbery, which took place shortly before noon Wednesday at TD Bank in the Sturbridge Plaza, Route 131.
He was ordered held without bail on the charge of being a fugitive from justice, based upon two extraditable warrants (for arson and bank robbery) in North Carolina.
On Wednesday, Mr. Gendron allegedly passed a note to a TD Bank teller demanding money with no dye. He leaned forward onto the counter and said, "Give it to me now," according to the police report.
Mr. Gendron was driven away in a silver Dodge Caravan. It turned out the driver of the getaway vehicle was an employee of a livery company and had been dispatched to the Scottish Inn, 142 Main St., to pick up the suspect, police said.
